Robert
Louis Balfour Stevenson (13 November 1850 – 3 December 1894)
was a Scottish novelist, poet, essayist, and travel writer. His most famous works are Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr
Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
I have
read Kidnapped (1886) is a historical
novel that tells of the boy David Balfour's pursuit of his inheritance and his
alliance with Alan Breck in the intrigues ofJacobite troubles in Scotland.
Kidnapped, receives
its 11th film adaptation in this two-and-a-half-hour miniseries starring young
British TV vet James Anthony Pearson as David Balfour, the uncle Ebenezer (Adrian Dunbar,Richard III) and the Scottish rogue, Alan Breck
(Iain Glen, Mountains of the Moon).
The
central character is a young man named David Balfour, whose parents have
recently died. He has to go at House of Shaws, there live his uncle. David
arrives at the house and he is allowed to stay, and soon discovers evidence
that his father may have been older than his uncle, this situation mades that
he is the heir. His uncle know it and he
want that David dead or disappear, finally he gets him into a boat and the
Captain plans to sell him into servitude.
One day the boat strike a small boat.
All of its
crew are killed except one man, Alan Breck who is brought on board and
offers Captain a large sum of money to drop him off on the mainland. David later overhears the crew
plotting to kill Breck and take all his money. They fight and get control of
the boat but it is soon driven aground on
the rocks.
First David begins an adventure alone
in the country but one day he met with his friend Alan, they are persecuted and
live many experiences together until they return to the house David´s uncle and
they get part of the heritage.
PERSONAL
OPINION
I like
because it is an adventure book, from start to finish has much action, many
things happen and always it keeps you intrigued.
This book
hasn´t been easy for me because it has many words that
I don´t understand and I
have had to look for in the dictionary but I recommend it.
